TumbleTalkingBooks: Your Online
Audio Library is an online collection of streaming audio books. TumbleTalkingBooks
includes fiction, non-fiction, literary classics, children's, teen, and Spanish
audio books. Also included are dramas, with cast readings of popular
plays. Another feature is the 65 read-a-long titles, with the same complete
narration with full text and adjustable font.
Fiction
The Lockport Public Library fiction
collection, located on Floor 2, features not only multiple copies of
bestsellers, but also novels by first-time authors, award winners, and
literary fiction by lesser-known but fine authors. The Library has strong
genre collections, including romances, mysteries, science fiction, westerns,
inspirational, and short stories.
Non-Fiction
Located on Floor 3, the Library's non-fiction
collection covers a wide variety of subjects. Some of the most
popular collections are
- The travel collection, which
contains books and videos to guide excursions worldwide. Whether
you're looking for local fun or exotic locations, the travel collection
is the place to "visit."
- The consumer health collection,
which includes books and videos on wellness, fitness, nutrition, alternative
medicine, and various diseases and conditions.
- The career planning collection,
which includes series such as the VGM Professional Careers Series (Careers
In...) and the Great Jobs Series. We also have resources to assist
in writing resumes and cover letters, having successful interviews, and
climbing the corporate ladder.
- The car repair manuals from Chilton's
and Motor, along with books on car maintenance and restoration.
Large Print Fiction
& Non-Fiction
Housed on Floor 2, the Lockport Public
Library's large print collection includes many best-selling and popular
titles.
Magazines & Newspapers
The Lockport Public Library subscribes
to over 100 magazines and newspapers. Magazines include Antiques
and Collecting, Better Homes & Gardens, Business Week, Family
Handyman, Good Housekeeping, Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion,
Mother Earth News, Newsweek, PC Magazine, Real Simple, Rolling Stone, Sky & Telescope,
Smithsonian, and Time.
Newspapers include Barrons, Buffalo
News, Business First, Christian Science Monitor, Niagara Gazette, Union
Sun & Journal, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal. This year's issues
are located on Floor 2.
Videos
The Lockport Public Library feature
film collection, located on Floor 2, includes films from comedy to drama
to horror to classics, available in videocassette and DVD formats.
We also have non-fiction videocassettes and DVDs, located on Floor 3, on
almost every topic imaginable, including yoga, tai chi, biographies, home
improvement, travel, playing a musical instrument, and ballroom dancing.
Audio Programs
The Lockport Public Library maintains
a large collection of popular fiction and non-fiction audiocassettes
and audio CDs. The fiction audiobooks are located on Floor 2, and
the nonfiction audiobooks are located on Floor 3. Books on cassette
and CD are the perfect solution for people who don't think they have time
to read--you can listen while commuting, exercising, or even washing the
dishes.
Music CDs
A wide variety of CDs are available
on Floor 2 in such categories as Alternative, Big Band, Classical, Country,
Easy Listening, Holiday, Jazz, Miscellaneous, New Age, Popular, Rock, Showtunes,
and Soundtrack.
