NCCC Courses held at the Lockport Public Library:

Introduction to Keyboarding
4 classes in each course. Designed to provide touch-typing competency skills for the non-professional keyboarding student. Basic alphanumeric keyboarding techniques on the microcomputer will be taught. This course is geared for those at any level of computer training who wish to learn touch-keyboarding skills.

May 21, 22, 23, 24 (Tue – Fri) 2-4pm (session 12)


Introduction to Computer Basics
4 classes in each course. Explore the world of computers through hands-on interactive sessions. Gain a basic understanding of computers using up-to-date equipment, the features of file management, concepts and terminology. This basic course is designed for beginners to learn keyboarding effectively through construction, practice and to cover the basics of Windows, Word, plus the Internet.

Introduction to Microsoft Windows 7
4 classes in each course. This course is intended for students who have little or no computer experience. Topics include an overview of microcomputer hardware, software and the use of Microsoft Windows operating system.

May 15, 17, 22, 24 (Wed, Fri) 10am-12pm (session 13) *FULL*


Introduction to Microsoft Office 2010
4 classes in each course. This introductory course will teach you the basics of how this popular software package works. Students will be introduced to the Windows operating platform, as well as the various programs that comprise the Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint.

Jun. 3, 5, 10, 12 (Mon, Wed) 2-4pm (session 27)


Introduction to Microsoft Word 2010
4 classes in each course. Microsoft Word 2010 for Windows is intended for students who desire to understand word processing and document preparation using a Windows environment. Topics may include creating, editing, formatting and printing documents. An overview of desktop publishing features may also be included. Prerequisite: Introduction to Windows or equivalent experience.

Jun. 3, 4, 10, 11 (Mon, Tue) 5:30-7:30pm (session 22) *FULL*


Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2010
4 classes in each course. Students will learn how to create professional looking presentations using Microsoft Power Point for Windows. Topics may include terminology, entering and editing text in slide and outline view, adding graphics to slides, importing and exporting data from Excel and Word.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2010
4 classes in each course. Basic concepts and applications of Excel for Windows will be discussed in this course. Topics to be covered include Excel fundamentals, worksheet preparation, formula construction, worksheet printing, basic spreadsheet metaphors and the use of charting as an analytical tool. Prerequisite: Introduction to Windows or equivalent experience.

2 classes in each course. Introduction to database building with Microsoft Access 2010.

Introduction to the Internet
2 classes in each course. This exciting hands-on class provides an introduction to the fascinating world of the Internet. The instructor reviews the basics of using the Internet such as basic terminology and performing searches on the World Wide Web. Learn tips and tricks on finding information for work, school, and home as well as information on Internet privacy, safety and security.

Facebook - June 13 (Thu) 1pm – 4pm
Introduction to Facebook: learn how to set up a Facebook Profile, review privacy settings, find friends and games, and improve your online social skills.

Intro to Twitter - July 11 (Thu) 1pm – 4pm
This class will introduce students to Twitter -- participants will go through the steps to create their own Twitter account.

Gaga for Google! - August 8 (Thu) 1pm – 4pm
Do you use Google? This powerful tool is more than a search engine. We will explore some of its many uses.
